Refugee Web Activities !

Our Book is refugee One of our activities is questions about What is a Refugee and questions about refugees , Here is my workings for the questions , this is my final work of our Activity.

What is a refugee ?

  • 1. Worldwide, approximately how many people
    have been forced to leave their homes as refugees ?
So far there have been over 60 million people that have been forced to be moved /
leave their homes as refugees. 
  • 2. What is the difference between refugees and internally displaced persons
 Refugees are forced to leave behind their homes and country
, and displaced persons are fled out of their homes but are still in their country 
  • 3. Complete the sentence : According to the international legal definition ,
  •  a refugee is someone who …..  
A refugee is someone who has been forced out of their way to leave their
country either due to war , persecution and their race , religion or a political reason. 
  • 4. What does the word persecution mean?
The definition behind persecution is someone given ill
treatment mainly because of their race and religious beliefs ,
or in other meaning being harassed.
  • 5. What percentage of refugees are children ? 
Half of refugees are children which is about 32 million kids
that are refugee’s out of the 65 million refugees
  • 6. What’s the difference between a migrant and a refugee ?
The difference between a migrant and a refugee is , a migrant
has the decision and chooses to move or not , and a refugee is someone
that is forced to move out of their homes or their own country.
  •  7. Think about a family forced to leave their country due to violence .
  • List 6-8 things that they may face during the way 
  1. Harassment towards their family 
  2. Being Tricked when trying to leave their country 
  3. Having to leave behind personal and special belongings 
  4. Arguments with security and cops
  5. Dealing with a shortage of supplies and money when trying to leave the country 
  6. Finding ways to leave the Country 
  7. The will mainly face being disrespected and will get hurt
  • 8. What is a Refugee Camp?
A refugee camp is a temporary place to settle
down. It is built for refugees and refugee-like situations.
It is a place for refugees to stay if they do not have a place to.
  • 9. What does it mean for a refugee to seek asylum? What does the word Asylum mean?
 The word asylum in this type of context means the
protection that is offered by the state or country to refugees 
who can’t safely return to their home state or country or someone
who has left their country by persecution suffer of race and religion.
  • 10. While not all countries agree on guidelines to grant refugee status ,
  • they do agree on the basic principle of  non refoulement. What does this mean?

  • 11. What big issues do refugees face? 
  • Having the difficulty learning and understanding English or a new language 
  • Raising their young children to be successful in anything
  • And most importantly in school
  • Having problems settling in to new homes and countries 
  • Australia is treating refugees that enter the country as prisoners.
  • What is your reaction to this? How should refugees be treated?
 To me I think refugees should be treated with the other most
respect as their situations that they go through are full of frustration
and difficulty trying to find somewhere to stay and settle in.
Refugees are people too just because of their situation,
their religious culture or the color of their skin does
not mean that should be treated unfairly because of them being them self .
 What I think would be right is “Being Treated the way
they’ll like to be treated” is the golden rule if in a situation like
refugee’s they would like to have a place they can call home .
Overall I think it’s unfair and is sad they do get treated like this.
