Flander Fields

 As the new century dawned, New Zealanders settled into a period of relative calm. The calm lasted for about 15 years but came to a sudden end in 1914 when World War I erupted in Europe. The war lasted for almost five years and claimed the lives of 18,000 New Zealanders

It also claimed the lives of thousands of men and women from countries around the world. Every year, we remember these brave men and women on ANZAC Day (25 April). Many people go to a special Anzac Day ceremony where they read a special poem that was written for the fallen soldiers. The poem is called ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae.

The right to vote!

 At the turn of the century, New Zealand elected its first ever government. Richard John Seddon served as the leader of the Liberal Party from 1893-1906. Prior to 1893, only men were legally allowed to vote. This all changed in the late 1800s when a woman named Kate Sheppard lead a suffragist movement in New Zealand calling for a change in law. Her hard work finally paid off when the Electoral Act was passed into law on 19 September 1893, giving women the right to vote. New Zealand was the first country to give all women the right to vote. There were still countries in the world (e.g. Saudi Arabia) who, until recently, did not allow women to vote.

The Cologne Cathedral - SLJ

 At the turn of the century, there was a great deal of construction happening in New Zealand. Many of the new British settlers wanted to build homes and community meeting places, such as churches. One of the largest buildings to be constructed during this period was St Joseph’s Cathedral in Dunedin.

St Joseph’s Cathedral is just one of hundreds of beautiful cathedrals around the world.

Use your search engine to find a picture of another famous cathedral. Post a picture of the cathedral on your blog. Underneath the picture tell us: the name of the cathedral, where the cathedral is located, when it was built, and how long it took to build.

Film Festival 2020!

Yesterday, our school took a trip to Hoyts theatre for the 2020 Film festival we watched many funny and educational films that were created by very creative students from our school and others. We had a buddy class which was room 3 my buddy was Millani! 

Film Festival 2020 was very fun and it was very entertaining to watch all the films that were made!

Fun Run Term 4!

 Last week Friday we our final Fun run for this year, we ran 2.4 kms from Pakuranga sailing Club to Saint kentigern School. It was a tiring and fun run but at the end of it all we got to enjoy nice water and a sausage sizzle.

Rugby Roots Funvo Day!

 Last week Monday we had a couple of girls from the Auckland storms rugby team come into our school to talk and play really fun activities with us. There were prizes at the end of it for the students who did their best and stood out. This was a very fun day full of new things to try and I would for us to have it again.

Artist Studies !

 This week for LCS our focus is all about our art exhibition that is coming up. Our task was to choose an artist that we can connect with from our culture, the artist Jayde and I chose is a tongan fashion brand Kanumez this is a family buisness that consist of two sisters and their mother. Our LCS task for today was to imagine you have to leave your home all of a suddenly and you are allowed only to take a backpack with you. What is important to you? Tuesday Maths

Today for maths is still the same as yesterday ( converting fractions into percentages ), our group exponets had a new set of questions to complete, here is my maths work for today.

Teeth - writing task

Our writing task for today was called teeth, we had to watch a short film called teeth and we had to list down the nouns, adjectives and verbs we got from the video, we also had to write a short story as if we were in the film and the ending to the short film.

Thursday Maths

Today's Maths was still the same with mixed and improper fractions, our task for our maths group was to create 10 - 12 questions for someone else in our group to complete, I got to do rottpon's set of questions !, fractions is not my best, but here is my maths task for today.

Wednesday Maths

Our maths for today is still based on mixed and improper fractions, our task today was to create a rod or fractions table similar to the table in our math yesterday, we had to create similar questions for someone else in our math group to answer tomorrow, this is my math task for today.

Whole School Movement!

A new thing our school has started during this lockdown is whole school movement, where from 11:30am - 12:00pm a half hour walk or run anything to do with getting involded with outside and moving around!, this is a short videoclip of me walking around my neighbourhood.

Exponets Maths for Monday !

For my group in Maths (Exponets) our main focus this week is all about fractions using improper and mixed fractions to find our answers, our task was to work on mixed and improper fractions, this is my workings for today's task. 

Writing Task Two !

For my second writing task for today I chose to take a writing task from our daily five, this task I did was all about would you rather , I chose two questions that I found relateble and interesting and answered the questions with my opinion. This is my second writing task for today.

Pobble 365 Writing Task

 For writing we had to choose two activities from them and complete them, I chose to do pobble 365 and wrote a short story about the image I chose, this is my story I wrote for my writing task one. 

Basic Facts Task!

 This is my second math tasks for today was a simple stage 7 basic facts test, this task gave me a series of different questions including multipcation, division and precentages, I managed to get 34/40, I had many problems on trying to solve the fractions and precentage section.

First Home Learning Task !

 This week Wednesday at 12pm , we went into level 3 lockdown  today we were given a list of tasks given to us to do, this is my first task for home learning term 3, this is a IxL maths task I chose to do exponets learning and answer the questions and managed to get 30/32 questions correct, here is my first maths task for home learning T3.

Days of week in Maori !

Our focus for last and this week is Matariki, one of tasks we had to do was for literacy and we had to list down all the days of the week and then add in the Maori names for the days, here is my work enjoy !

Our focus for this week is Matariki, The Maori New year is starting up this month and Matariki is an important celebration in New Zealand, One of our Tasks was to create a table to write down the Maori Calendar each Month of the Year and what are the names. Mummification Process

For the past two weeks our focus was Ancient Eygpt, one of our Tasks was to read about the Process of Mummification and we had to highlight the steps of Mummification on the paper then we had to rewrite the steps on a google doc here is the seven steps of Mummification .

Connections Task !

Another of Our Connections Task for last week was finding the information on why Maraes are important in Aotearoa (New zealand ) we had to list down 10 or more reasons why Marae are important . I included some rules in the Marae and some facts . Here is my work for Connections

Venn Diagram

One of Our Connections Task last week was a venn Diagram about an a Egyptian Funeral and your culture's funeral . We had to write what happens at an Egyptian Funeral and for example what happens at a Tongan Funeral like the Traditions at the funeral . Then we had to list in the middle the similarites that both funerals have.

On Tuesday for Samoan Language Week Room 12 Made Koko Alaisa for the 3 senior Classes to enjoy . Typical Dinner

For Samoan Language Week on Thursday a Samoan Umu was made for the Whole School , it was an amazing exprience to see how they do it in they're culture . After the Learning Process our extra follow up Connections Task was to explain what is a Typical Dinner in our Household that is cooked occasionly or for Special events and we then had to write the recipe for one of the Dinners . Here is my Work for this Activity . 

Typical Dessert

Last week was Samoan Language Week and Room 13 made Pani popo , after completing the activities about the learning of Pani popo  . We had a connection task for us to do based on what is a Typical Dessert we have baked at home or brought . It could be a Traditional dessert or any Dessert made at home . A dessert made at my house most of the time is Cinnamon Buns . 

The power of The Coconut

This week is Samoan Language Week , this task for us to do today is called the Power of the Coconut , The class had to watch the music video from the Moana movie " Where we are " and point out the messages that tell the importance of the coconut . We then had to create a copy of a google drawing and had to identify the parts of the coconut and provide what it is used for and a Image . Here is my Power of The Coconut Work .

Eid - Mubarak

Celebrated today is the Islamic event of Eid. With our focus being ‘CONNECTIONS’, it’s important we learn as much as we can about the world we live in, the people and the diversity amongst us all! - Our Task for Literacy was Learning about the Ramadan Month and Eid Celebration that comes along with it . Lockdown Exprience Recount

Dear Future Me !

Lockdown Experience Day 3 

Lockdown was something different , that most have not gone through . In Lockdown I would start off my every morning by being woken up from the thunderous sound of my alarm at 6:30 in the morning , then moving to switch it off and having a look through my phone . I move out of my bed to the bathroom to then brush my teeth , wash my face and apply my skin products and finish up by fixing  up my hair .

I transfer back into my bedroom making sure my bed is made then open up the closet doors to find my outfit for the day , move over to my chromebook and look at the work given for the day . Hour goes by and I hear the notification for our class meeting at 8:50 . Instructions and Introductions said , shifting over to start my work .

Fears filled my mind of not being able to see close friends , family members and the constant thought of this deathening pandemic . Changes I constantly saw switching between level 4 and 3 was how quiet roads were and how much more people were active outside of the house . 

Home - learning was a new understanding for most of us , even though we were able to connect with our teachers and classmates through our devices it was quite complicated communicating with each other because it wasn’t always understandable of what the person is saying or having no wifi or bad connection . 

Happy moments that made this tremendous lockdown better was being able to facetime my friend everyday to seem like we were still working together in class.

Robotics Maze game !

My tech class for the next couple weeks is Robotics , our first task for this class was to complete the 20 levels of codes , it was called the maze we had to complete a the maze levels by trying to figure out the correct codes . Here is my complete task for this week . 

Cartoonify Ourselves

Our Activity for this morning was to cartoon a photo of ourselves on google drawing . We had to watch the tutorial of how to use the polyline tool , this task was quite diffcult to do but I was able to do it . It is not the best but here is my Cartoon task for today .
